چکیده

Background Those with single ventricle circulations often have a normal ventricular volumetric ejection fraction (VV EF) which is not in keeping with their symptoms and prognosis. Recently four-dimensional flow (4Dflow) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been used to extract parameters of intra-cardiac kinetic energy (KE). There has been recent interest in measuring ventricular KE in health and disease to see if this could provide an additional tool in the assessment of ventricular function. We propose a new simple measure of ventricular function based on kinetic energy, the kinetic energy ejection fraction (KE EF), and assess its usefulness in patients with single ventricle circulation.

بررسی یافته های اکوکاردیو گرافیک قلبی در بیماران سیروز کبدی

Introduction: Cardiovascular abnormalities have been reported in liver cirrhosis (LC). In these patients, cardiac symptoms and physical signs occur as the liver functions worsen. Cirrhosis is associated with hyper dynamic circulation and beta-adrenergic system changes responsible for the cardiovascular abnormalities. The purpose of the present study was to explore the echocardiographic findi...

The kinetic energies of left ventricular 4D flow components correlate with established markers of prognosis and represent novel imaging biomarkers in both ischaemic and dilated cardiomyopathy

Background Despite different aetiology of myocardial damage in dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) and ischaemic cardiomyopathy (IHD), cardiac remodelling occurs in both, culminating in the end result of a dilated left ventricle with impaired function. Cardiac remodelling is a complex process in which numerous cellular, mechanical and flow processes become deranged. Insights into changes of multidimen...

Evaluation of Cardiac Function in Patients with Brain Death using Advanced Hemodynamic Monitoring

Background: Studies on hemodynamic changes in brain death are in vitro and in animal studies. And very few studies have been done on the hemodynamic changes of brain death. The aim of this study was to use advanced hemodynamic monitoring with echocardiography for evaluation of donated heart and to evaluate the moment by moment brain death patients with advanced hemodynamic monitoring tools and ...

Efficacy of the phase images in Fourier analysis using gated cardiac POOL-SPECT for determining the indication for cardiac resynchronization therapy.

BACKGROUND Although cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) improves quality of life and survival for patients with heart failure, exact methods to estimate the effect of cardiac asynchrony have not yet been defined. METHODS AND RESULTS Initially, to examine whether the phase analysis images in the Fourier analysis using gated cardiac pool single photon emission computed tomography (POOL-SPEC...

Matrix-array 3-dimensional echocardiographic assessment of volumes, mass, and ejection fraction in young pediatric patients with a functional single ventricle: a comparison study with cardiac magnetic resonance.

BACKGROUND Quantitative assessment of ventricular volumes and mass in pediatric patients with single-ventricle physiology would aid clinical management, but it is difficult to obtain with 2-dimensional echocardiography. The purpose of the present study was to compare matrix-array 3-dimensional echocardiography (3DE) measurements of single-ventricle volumes, mass, and ejection fraction with thos...
